The Chinese year 4715 (Year of the Rooster) started on 28th January, 2017. The rooster is the 10th of 12 animals in the Chinese lunar calendar. Those born during the Year of the Rooster are thought to be hardworking, observant, confident and honest.
The Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of the coin.
The reverse was designed by Tom Vaughan and features the male cockerel in his full glory with his hen and three chicks and tufts of grass.
