VAT on Silver
Value Added Tax is payable on new silver bars and coins in the UK and most states within the European Union, as it is for palladium and platinum bullion. The only exemption from this is for investment gold, which is exempt from VAT in the EU.
For secondary market bullion, VAT is added only to the profit margin of the bars or coins under the special scheme. This makes secondary market bullion a more cost-effective investment compared to new bars or coins.

The obverse of the bar features the Scottsdale lion company logo in the centre, with the fineness and weight of the bar appearing underneath:
Additionally, the bar is finished with the motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST', which is seen on many American bullion coin series such as American Eagles and Buffalos.
