King Charles III

Charles ascended the throne on 8 September 2022 after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Charles is the oldest person to ascend to the British throne, at the age of 73.

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla was an event that captivated the attention of people throughout the UK and around the globe. The ceremony took place on May 6th, 2023, at Westminster Abbey in London.

Tudor Crown

The Tudor Crown, referred to as the Crown of Henry VIII, stands as an emblem of the Tudor dynasty that governed England from 1485 to 1603. Crafted from gold and embellished with valuable gemstones, it serves as a representation of the authority, opulence, and grandeur attributed to the Tudor monarchs throughout their rule.

Furthermore, the Tudor Crown finds its presence in King Charles' personal Cypher, showcasing a design that was handpicked by the king himself.

Obverse

The obverse side of the bar features the engravings of four beasts which represent the four nations of the United Kingdom by Thomas Docherty.

The four beasts are:

  • Lion of England
  • Unicorn of Scotland
  • Dragon of Wales
  • White stag of Ireland

Additionally, this bar features a depiction of the Royal Tudor Crown in the centre, with the Tudor Rose appearing at the top of the design.

Reverse

The reverse side showcases the royal cypher of King Charles III at the centre of the design, with the Tudor crown. The Royal Mint logo is positioned at the top, while an inscription at the bottom reads as follows:
