The 2016 Army 'Pals' £2 coin is the third in a five year series commemorating the First World War. The coins take us on a journey from outbreak to armistice. This brilliant uncirculated coin pays tribute to the Pals Battalions which represent the comradery that bound the soldiers together.
The coin comes in a colourful presentation folder, with information about the army during World War I.
In 1914, Lord Kitchener's request for men to enlist drew an amazing response. Families, neighbours and friends who signed up together were put into 'Pals Battalions' so that they could fight together, side by side. Unfortunately, the results where that when whole communities fought together they could also be torn apart.
Other £2 coins issued in 2016 commemorate the 350th Anniversary of the Great Fire of London and the 400th Anniversary of the Death of William Shakespeare.
We received our first delivery of brilliant uncirculated coins on 18th November, 2015.
Mintage for the £2 Army 'The Pals' circulation coin that you will find in your change is 9,550,000.

The obverse features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. This is the first time the portrait has appeared on the £2 coins, having been unveiled in 2015.
The reverse shows three of the 'Pals' shown side by side. The design was based on the work of the First World War artist C.R.W. Nevinson. The actual design comes from a creative consultancy called Uniform, led by the Creative Director, Tim Sharp.
