This 1915 George V sovereign was issued by the Perth Mint in Australia. This British coin is struck in 22 carat gold and features the iconic St George and Dragon engraving on the reverse.

In 1915, sovereigns were issued at The Royal Mint, London and the Australian branch mints in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
First released in 1489 during King Henry VII's reign as a gold hammered coin with a value of one pound sterling, the sovereign was reintroduced as a modern circulation one pound coin in 1817.
These coins were used as money although they were gradually replaced with banknotes. Sovereigns are exempt from Capital Gains Tax and are free from VAT.
