American Gold Market
The United States of America is probably the largest coin collectors' market in the world. The bullion Eagle was introduced by the US Mint in 1986 to meet the growing demand for bullion in America. The American Eagle issued in both gold and silver, is a popular coin with both investors and collectors.
Obverse
The obverse features Lady Liberty, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. It was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The coin also bears an inscription that reads as:
LIBERTY · MCMXCI
The initials of Augustus Saint-Gaudens can be seen at the bottom of the coin.
The coin bears the Roman numerals MCMXCI which are equal to 1991.
Reverse
The reverse was designed by Miley Busiek and shows a male eagle, carrying an olive branch. Additionally, the coin bears an inscription that reads as:
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
IN GOD WE TRUST
1 OZ. FINE GOLD ~ 50 DOLLARS
The initials MB and JW can be seen at the bottom of the coin.
