The 2011 Britannia gold proof four coin set features a seated Britannia set against a large billowing Union Jack flag designed by David Mach.

Gold Britannias

Gold bullion Britannia coins are the UK's most popular CGT exempt 1oz gold coin.Introduced by The Royal Mint in 1987, these British gold bullion coins have a face value of £100. Between 1987 - 2012, the coins were struck in 22 carat gold, from 2013 onwards, the coins have been struck in 24 carat gold. The coins all contain one troy ounce of gold, whether they are struck in 22 carat gold (0.917) or 24 carat gold (0.9999). We actually prefer the earlier dated coins as the quality of the striking is far superior to more recent issues.

For the patient collector, many of the older sets which we offer represent a very good deal as they are at considerable savings compared with purchasing the current year's set direct from the Royal Mint.

Obverse

The coins in this set have on the obverse the fourth definitive UK coin portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley, approved for use on United Kingdom coins from 1998.

Reverse

The 2011 issue sees another new design for the gold Britannia, this time featuring two powerful symbols of Britain today, Britannia at the heart of a billowing Union Flag. This engraving was by David Mach.

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
