This beautiful gold proof sovereign set featuring the classic St George and the Dragon reverse design by Benedetto Pistrucci.

This standard proof set contains a sovereign, half sovereign and a quarter sovereign. Struck in 22 carat gold, the total gold content of the set is 0.412 troy ounces.

Only 652 of these sets were issued.

Standard or Premium 3 Coin Gold Sovereign Sets

Each year since 1980, the Royal Mint have produced sets of 3 and 4 coins in the gold sovereign series. In 2009 the four coin set became a five coin set with the introduction of the quarter sovereign. The 3 coin set usually consists of a sovereign, half sovereign and double sovereign or two pound piece. This is now called a Premium Three Coin Set. The 'standard' three coin set contains a sovereign, a half sovereign and the quarter sovereign.

Obverse

The obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Reverse

The reverse was designed by Benedetto Pistrucci and features St George slaying the dragon. The year '2013' can be found at the bottom of the design.

Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
