2020 Gold Proof Maple Leaf Coin Set.
The Royal Canadian Mint is famous for producing collectable proof coins, and this 2020 gold maple leaf set is no different.
The set features a special reverse proof holographic design, stuck in 'five nine' (.99999) fine gold. This is the RCM's first hologram set of gold coins since 2009.
Just 500 sets were ever issued, meaning they're a must have for coin enthusiasts!
The Royal Canadian Mint first introduced the Maple in 1979 to provide a one ounce gold coin struck in 'pure gold' for investors. Bearing the Canadian national plant, the Maple bullion coin is one of the most easily recognised coins in the world.
The Royal Canadian Mint guarantees that these gold Maple coins meet the following definition for 99999 purity. Gold that is 99.999% pure is defined as having a sum of less than 10 parts per million of the following elements: Ag, Al, As, Bi, Cr, Cu, Fe, In, Mg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Pd, Pt, Sn, Si, Ti, Zn, and Zr. This refers to the bulk material below the coin surface. The coins are often referred to as "99999 maples" or "five nine maples".
The obverse bears the Canadian portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The inscription reads:
ELIZABETH II • D • G • REGINA
It also has their respective face values.
The reverses of the coins show a special holographic design of Canadian sugar maple leaves on a twig by Luc Normandin.
'CANADA' appears above the design, with "FINE GOLD weight OR PUR" and the five nine's (99999) shown below the maple.
