This 1oz Silver Proof White Horse of Hanover coin is part of The Royal Mint's Queen's Beasts range of coins. Only 4,200 of the coins have been issued. These coins are silver proof and come in a presentation box.
The White Horse of Hanover is the eighth coin in The Royal Mint's proof range of Queen's Beasts coins. This is the 8th release in the Queen's Beasts coin series.
The series will feature 10 coins, which will be released up until the end of 2020.
The Queen's Beasts are a series of ten statues that were created for Elizabeth II's coronation at Westmnister Abbey in 1953. They combine heraldic elements and mythical creatures which form a part of the Queen's royal ancestry. The Royal Mint launched their Queen's Beasts bullion range in 2016.
In 1714 the crown of Great Britain passed to Elector George of Hanover. Due to this the white horse was added into the Royal Arms.
Please note the outer black box may show some slight signs of wear and tear.
The obverse was designed by Jody Clark and features the fifth coinage effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse is also designed by Jody Clark. It features a rearing horse with the badge of the House of Hanover accompanied by the inscription:-
WHITE HORSE OF HANOVER
The shield is split into quarters. The first shows the fleur-de-lis of France, the second shows the Arms of Hanover, the third shows the Irish harp, and the final piece shows the lion of Scotland and the leopards of England.
