2021 Platinum One Ounce Britannia Bullion Coins.
As UK legal currency, these platinum bullion coins from the Royal Mint are capital gains tax exempt for British residents. They have a face value of 100 pounds.
Each Britannia contains one troy ounce of platinum and is struck in .9995 fineness.
This coin comes supplied loose. You can purchase a protective 33mm capsule here, or buy a deluxe wooden box as the perfect gift option.
Please note these coins may have some production marks or imperfections, which is perfectly normal for bullion coins.
Platinum bullion Britannias were first introduced in 2018, following on from the silver Britannia in 1997 and the gold Britannia in 1987.
However, it is not the Royal Mint's first platinum Britannia; the Mint released a platinum proof Britannia coin collection in 2007.
Unlike its gold and silver counterparts, the 2021 platinum Britannia does not have the new security features which are present on the gold and silver coins.
We are unsure why the Royal Mint have decided to exclude these coins from their widely-publicised new security features.
The obverse shows the Jody Clark fifth coinage portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The inscription reads:
ELIZABETH II·D·G·REG·F·D·100 POUNDS·
The reverse shows the classic standing Britannia design. It was designed by Philip Nathan. Notable is the absence of new security features, which are seen on the gold and silver 2021 Britannias.
It bears the inscription:
BRITANNIA·2021·1oz·9995·PLATINUM·
