These new Royal Mint gold coins feature a special Royal Coat of Arms design by Timothy Noad, issued to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

The first gold sovereigns were issued in 1817, during the reign of King George III. Sovereign coins continue to be a favourite with gold investors looking to buy gold bullion at low premiums.

The reverse was designed by Timothy Noad and features an interpretation of the Royal Coat of Arms. The arms feature the quartered shield of the United Kingdom, surmounted by a royal crown, topped by a golden lion. The date appears at the bottom.
