These Silver 2023 1 oz Lunar Year of the Rabbit coins are issued by The Perth Mint in Western Australia. This is the fourth release in the Series III collection.
Chards has been an official distributor for The Perth Mint since 2004, and it gives us great excitement to present the latest release in the Perth Mint's highly collectable lunar series programme.
Each coin is produced in 0.9999 fine silver and contains exactly one troy ounce of the precious metal. The coins are issued in protective capsules as standard.
These one ounce silver coins have a maximum mintage of just 300,000. Once these coins have sold out, we are unable to get any more.
We have more 2023 silver rabbit coins, as well as 2023 gold lunar rabbit coins available. View the full 2023 Year of the Rabbit Collection.
The rabbit is the fourth animal in the Chinese zodiac, which is related to the Chinese lunar calendar.
Those born during the Year of the Rabbit are regarded as being creative, intelligent, compassionate and vigilant.
Additional Security Feature
Each coin features a micro-engraved letter within the design, only detectable under a magnifying glass.
The Perth Mint introduced their lunar coin series in 1996, starting with the gold Year of the Rat. The silver series began in 1999 with the Year of the Rabbit.
Each coin celebrates a different Chinese zodiac sign, with each cycle lasting 12 years. Since the lunar coins were introduced they have proven to be highly collectable, with most sizes selling out very quickly.
The Perth Mint's third series of lunar coins began with the 2020 Year of the Mouse (Rat). The early issues from Series I and Series II are often very hard to find, so if you're thinking about collecting we suggest you buy these earlier issues when the opportunity arises!
The obverse features the Australian coinage portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark.
The Queen is shown from the shoulders upwards. The wording reads:
ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA
1oz 9999 Ag 1 DOLLAR
The coin’s reverse portrays an inquisitive rabbit stretching up to a tree branch, with another rabbit beside it keeping watch.
It was designed by Ing Ing Jong.
兔 RABBIT 2023
The Perth Mint's mintmark "P" is visible to the bottom right-hand side of the reverse.
