The Legend of Robin Hood

Robin Hood has been a part of British folklore since the 13th century. The legend of the skilled archer who was known to steal from the rich to give to the poor has been passed down through generations.

Hood's accomplices, the 'Merry Men' included Little John, Will Scarlett, Friar Tuck, Much and Maid Marian. They were said to have lived together in Sherwood Forest, near Nottingham. Robin Hood has been portrayed in numerous books, television series and over 100 films. Depictions of him have varied over time, with him being shows as a peasant or a nobleman.

Historians are unable to confirm whether the legend of Robin Hood is true. There are even suggestions that 'Robin Hood' may have been a title given to a group of bandits.

Obverse

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It was designed by Jody Clark. The legend reads:
